Do you see your creativity as work or play?

You offered some really thought provoking responses to my last question ‘Do you see your creativity as work or play?’.

For some people creativity seems to be a place to play, to have fun and to escape real life for a little bit.

For others their creative play has become their ‘work’ so the relationship has changed.

I know from my experience I’m discovering that play is essential for me. I need that outlet where I am engaged in activities for no purpose other then the enjoyment and curiosity of the moment.

However as my creativity has become my paid ‘work’ I’ve often lost the sense of play. Now I am learning that to do my work well and care for my own well-being I need to make sure the play stays in the picture. For me this looks like incorporating more play into my art practice and how I run my business, but also starting new hobbies that I can enjoy with no pressure to ‘achieve’.

If you’d like to delve deeper into this idea, come and join me over on this post where I talk about the importance of creative play in more detail :)
